All questions
What is Pino?
Pino is an offline maps and navigation app for Android, iPhone and Wear OS. It lets you download maps, search places, calculate routes and navigate turn-by-turn without an internet connection.
Does Pino work without internet?
Yes. After you download a map region, Pino works offline: map display, place search, route calculation and turn-by-turn navigation all run on your device without an internet connection. You only need internet to download or update map regions.
Does GPS work without internet?
Yes. GPS is independent of mobile data or Wi-Fi. Your device receives positioning signals directly from satellites, so Pino can show your location and navigate on downloaded maps even in airplane mode or in areas with no coverage.
Can I use Pino on Android?
Yes. Pino is available for Android phones and tablets, with offline map downloads, offline place search, offline route calculation and turn-by-turn navigation.
Is Pino available for iPhone?
Not yet. Pino for iPhone is coming soon and is not publicly available on the App Store at this time. This page will be updated when it ships.
Can Pino work directly on a Wear OS watch?
Yes. Pino runs standalone on compatible Wear OS watches: maps are stored on the watch, and place search, route calculation and turn-by-turn navigation run directly on the watch.
Does Wear OS navigation require a nearby phone?
No. Once a map region is downloaded to the watch, Pino does not require a nearby phone or an active internet connection to search, calculate routes or navigate on Wear OS.
Can I search for places offline?
Yes. Place search works on downloaded map regions without an internet connection, on Android and Wear OS.
Can I calculate routes offline?
Yes. Routes are calculated on your device using downloaded map data, so route planning and rerouting work without internet.
How do I download maps?
Open Pino, choose the region you want, and download it over Wi-Fi or mobile data. Once the download finishes, the region is stored on your device and available offline.
How much storage do offline maps require?
Storage requirements vary by region. Exact download sizes are displayed in the app before a map is downloaded, so you can check the size and your free space before committing.
Which countries and regions are supported?
Available regions are listed inside the app in the map download screen. A public coverage list for this website is in preparation.
Which Wear OS watches are supported?
Pino targets watches running Wear OS. A verified list of tested watch models is in preparation and will be published on the supported devices page.
Does Pino collect location data?
Pino uses your location on-device to show your position and navigate. Details about what (if anything) leaves your device are documented on the security and privacy page and in the privacy policy.
Are downloaded maps stored on the device?
Yes. Downloaded map regions are stored locally on your phone or watch, which is what makes fully offline search, routing and navigation possible.
