This article will answer a practical question: how long does a Wear OS watch battery last while navigating offline with Pino?

Testing is in progress. We have not published numbers yet, because we only publish measurements we have actually made — with the tested app version, watch model, date and methodology alongside the results. Until then, this page documents what the test will measure and how.

What we will measure

  • Battery drain per hour during continuous offline turn-by-turn navigation on the watch, with GPS active and no phone connected.
  • Total navigation time from full charge to a defined cutoff level.
  • Any difference between always-on display and default display behaviour.

Planned methodology

Each run starts with a fully charged watch and a pre-downloaded map region. Navigation runs standalone on the watch — no paired phone in range, no internet connection. Battery level is logged at fixed intervals until the cutoff. Every published result will state the watch model, Wear OS version, Pino version and test date.

Why this test matters

Standalone watch navigation is only useful if the battery supports a realistic activity — a run, a hike, a city walk. Rather than repeating generic battery folklore, this page will carry first-party measurements once the test rounds are complete.
